Product, evidence, and access
What is TrustDots?
TrustDots is a shopping tool that brings evidence about products, brands, and sellers closer to the moment you buy. We organize available signals into a trust score and an explanation you can inspect in our mobile apps or browser extension.
How does a TrustDots score work?
Our scoring summarizes the best available evidence for a product, brand, or seller when we have enough coverage. We consider source reliability, freshness, category context, and the strength of the evidence, then show the major factors behind the result. A score is a decision aid, not our endorsement or a guarantee, and the system evolves as our models and coverage improve.
Can a brand pay for or influence its score?
No. Our scoring is not a paid-placement system. Brands cannot buy a better score or pay us to hide negative evidence. If a brand provides new information, we review it as evidence under the same process used for corrections and disputes.
What evidence and data sources do you use?
Depending on the product, we may use labels, ingredients, materials, merchant and company disclosures, recall notices, regulatory actions, public advisories, safety databases, certification records, public legal and ownership records, review patterns, complaints, shopper feedback, and documented data partners. A disclosure shows what was stated; it is not automatically independent verification.
What happens when evidence is missing or uncertain?
Coverage, freshness, and source quality vary by product and category. We aim to make missing, stale, disputed, or still-processing evidence visible instead of treating the record as complete. Missing evidence is not proof that a product is safe, unsafe, good, or bad.
How can I use TrustDots while shopping?
You can scan any product barcode in the TrustDots mobile app, search for a product in the mobile app, or use the TrustDots browser extension while shopping online. On iOS or Android, share a product link from Safari, Chrome, another browser, or a shopping app such as Amazon or Best Buy to TrustDots and see the score.
What if my brand’s score or information is wrong?
Email hello@trustdots.com and provide the supporting evidence. We will review the evidence and update or correct the information when it supports a change; requesting a review does not guarantee that we will make a change.
How does TrustDots handle personal data?
Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information across the website, apps, browser extension, and related services. For the current details or a privacy request, review the policy or email privacy@trustdots.com. We do not sell purchase data collected through browser-extension feedback.
Where is TrustDots available now?
TrustDots is available on iOS through the App Store, on Android through Google Play, and as a browser extension for Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers such as Edge and Brave. Browser product-page coverage currently focuses on supported pages at Amazon, Target, and Walmart and can vary by product.
